This article is part of our October edition. Read the editor’s letter to see what other fantastic writing has just been published. If you’re annoyed that it’s paywalled, then that means you wanted to read it, which means you value it. These writers get paid for what they do because their work is valuable. If you like that this type of independent media exists, please back it!
The piece you’re reading now is by Liam Sharma. Liam is a 28 year old writer residing in Sydney, Australia. He was the first known male to have a beauty column at a national newspaper in New Zealand (Stuff), where he was born. Liam now works at an eminent global cosmetic company and is the Editor of Sauce Magazine. The words he writes and colours he dreams often don’t yet exist.
Liam now writes for News & Reviews Magazine each month. This was his September column:

I didn’t know how well my last Word Vomit would slide down, but it had to come out of me. Opening yourself up isn’t just a way to let others in; it’s also an escape out. It’s closure. Reflection sharpens your sense of self, and I spent six summers not doing it. I must feel it out alone first to now squeeze your wrist as I drag you through it because it’s your turn.
The extraction makes me sick. It’s billions of neurons twisting tales together until I barf. A column dribbling down the ether to puncture this tiny hole for us to be weird, beautifully flawed, and fucking mad together.
